Log home living is not the classic Southwestern style home,

but to some it’s the perfect Southwestern Dream Home. Arizona has some beautiful scenery, and not all of it is desert. The White Mountain area in Northern Arizona is mountainous, wooded and breathtakingly beautiful.

To say the least, more than a few have found a cozy log cabin, nestled in the woods or proudly perched on a pristine lakeshore to be the ultimate Southwestern Dream Home.

Arizona is, surprisingly enough, the home of many lakes and rivers. Fishermen will find rainbow trout, brown trout, speckled trout and brook trout. There are bass, crappy, bluegill and quite a few others I can’t think of right now.

It’s also a favorite with hunters, due to the fact that Arizona provides ten big-game animals. Small game is plentiful as well, including rabbit, squirrel, quail, dove and more. So for you outdoorsmen, the Southwestern Dream Home can most certainly be a log cabin. We found this little beauty while traveling through Pinetop. The lake is small, peaceful and lovely. Residents here row their boats rather than use motors in an effort to keep the lake at its best.

Golden Meadows

And just because this is so beautiful, I had to show you a picture of the White Mountains. Tall ponderosa pines tower above golden meadows that look a little like a blanket of sunshine. Perky Black-eyed Susans dance playfully in the foreground.

A place like this is always waiting in the Southwest, just a few hours from home. So if you get that longing feeling and need to touch a tree, there it is waiting for you.
